Asked to creative direct software for Dell's newly acquired Alienware brand was an exciting adventure that lead to some award-winning work, and an appearance on stage at CES.
Given a 6 month roadmap and 6 teams of varying skill spread across 5 timezones was quite a challenge. Due to the rapid turnaround, I kicked the project off with an internal design competition which leveraged our stable of 15 designers to offer options for the primary look and feel. All options were then voted on by the greater experience design group to chose a popular vote winner. Ultimately, my design was chosen by popular vote and set a foundation for the rest of the platform which was created by myself and 3 other designers.

ALIENWARE COMMAND CENTER DASHBOARD - DARK

ALIENWARE COMMAND CENTER DASHBOARD - LIGHT
One primary feature of the Command Center allowed users to control the lighting on their individual devices, linked to opening any application on their system (typically games). We called this section FX and did our best to provide users with options on how to work with each one, including rotating it freely with your mouse or taking advantage of the predefined views. Any changes could be saved as a theme and associated to their game library.

Themes were much deeper than just lighting, offering users full control over their advanced hardware including overclocking, fan speeds, sound options and power control.
